To: COP26 President Alok Sharma
To: Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Patricia Espinosa
Revoke precious COP26 access badges from fossil fuel executives and give them to people working on the frontlines of our future.
The world's biggest polluters have been given VIP access to lobby against our future at COP26, the world’s biggest climate convention – which will host some of the most important climate negotiations in history.
Fossil fuel executives will have an all-access pass while so many others – from youth, activists and workers to Indigenous and front-line communities as well as many from the global South – are shut out.
These executives have proven time and again they are willing to sabotage progress by pushing false solutions to boost their profits. David Hone from Shell even boasted that he helped write part of the 2015 Paris Agreement, allowing fossil fuel companies to greenwash while continuing reckless pollution.
Access should go to the people who are fighting and campaigning to ensure we have a future, rather than to those who are the reason humanity is in Code Red. Would we invite tobacco companies to a lung cancer convention?
We are all stakeholders safeguarding our future, and together, we can create an overwhelming public outcry that's impossible to ignore.
COP26 starts November 1st. Will you add your name to demand COP26 stops big polluters from lobbying against our future and brings activists and those directly affected to the negotiation tables instead?
Polluters out! People in!
