The chicken industry is recklessly exploiting and slaughtering animals. They keep egg-laying hens in crowded cages and force them to lay eggs at an unnaturally frequent rate, bringing them to the slaughterhouse as soon as they are not profitable anymore.
And there is more.
Each year, 330 million newborn male chicks are being ground up or gassed while fully conscious.
All because they are useless to corporations focused only on maximising their profits. They are born to be immediately slaughtered as they are not laying eggs and are not fattened as easily as “broilers” bred for meat.
But this is changing. France, Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg already implemented a ban on killing male chicks. The European Commission can put forward legislation to phase out the systematic killing of male chicks all over Europe.
We demand the European Union and all its member states to take a strong stance and introduce a full ban on killing male chicks immediately.
